StarVegas.ch wants to protect your personal information and in doing so must comply with statutory provisions. This privacy notice (“Notice“) explains how we use your personal information and how we protect it.

Personal information as defined in this Notice is all the information that we obtain in connection with your use of StarVegas.ch and by means of which you can be identified directly or indirectly, such as your name, address, date of birth, gender, telephone number, account details and transaction data.

We expect you to read this Notice before you use StarVegas.ch. By using StarVegas.ch you accept this Notice.

What is the legal basis for this Notice?

  • Federal Data Protection Act (DSG) and associated ordinance
  • Federal Act on betting games (Betting Games Act, BGS)
  • Ordinance on betting games (Betting Games Ordinance, VGS)
  • EJPD Ordinance on casinos (Casinos Ordinance EJPD, SPBV-EJPD)
  • Federal Act on the combating of money laundering and the financing of terrorism (Money Laundering Act, GwG)
  • Regulation of the Swiss Federal Gaming Board on the due diligence obligations of casinos to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism (Money Laundering Regulation ESBK, GwV-ESBK)

What type of personal information do we collect and process?

Depending on your activities and the services selected on the website/in the apps, we process the following information in full or in part:
  • The information received from you when setting up your player account, in particular your name, date of birth, nationality, gender, place of residence, email address, telephone number, password with security question, and copy of identification document;
  • The activity data generated by your use of StarVegas.ch, in particular device data including the IP address, source and target data, player ID, betting transactions, data regarding online payment methods (debit/credit cards, bank account, post account), website login process, analysis information, data provided to customer service (including emails, chats and calls);
  • Information provided to us by authorities or authorised third-party companies (such as in connection with identity checks, money transfers or playing bans) to fulfil our statutory obligations and to exercise our rights;
  • Information that is collected by cookies while you use StarVegas.ch and which is recorded in not entirely anonymised form, but is linked to or connected with personal information. Further information regarding cookies and the management of them can be found in our Cookie Policy.

For what purposes is your personal information processed?

We process your information for the following purposes:
  1. The operation and administration of StarVegas.ch, including setting up and managing your player account;
  2. The verification of the information received from you when setting up your player account and for money transfers;
  3. Compliance with the law and regulatory obligations, including answering questions from authorities;
  4. Compliance with our contractual obligations to players in accordance with statutory provisions and the Terms and Conditions (T&Cs);
  5. The implementation of money transfers using third-party payment service providers and financial institutions;
  6. The protection of our rights, including the rights of our suppliers and other contractual partners;
  7. The provision of customer support. Regulatory obligations allow us to record telephone calls for security reasons, but we also do so to improve our services;
  8. To improve the security, services and functions of StarVegas.ch. This can include research, surveys, requests for your voluntary feedback, internal training and services from partners;
  9. To send marketing communication subject to your express consent. Such marketing communication can be based on your registration and gaming activity information.

How long is your personal information stored for?

The information collected in accordance with numbers 1–6 above will be stored in accordance with the statutory provisions. The longest legally prescribed minimum storage period is 10 years from the end of the business relationship (Money Laundering Act). Generally, the statutory minimum storage period is 10 years from receipt of a document or a piece of information (Betting Games Act/Code of Obligations). Shorter periods apply in exceptional cases. The Act also recognises certain maximum storage periods that are, of course, also taken into account by StarVegas.ch (such as 5 years with notifications to the Reporting Office for Money Laundering, MROS).

The information collected in accordance with numbers 7–9 above is generally stored for as long as StarVegas.ch uses it or until you request that we delete the information.

Information that no longer needs to be stored or may no longer legally be stored is deleted or anonymised.

Security and data protection measures

We use the appropriate personnel and technical measures to process your personal information confidentially and to protect it effectively, in particular from unauthorised access and inadvertent loss. To guarantee a high standard in this respect, Casino Interlaken AG is certified in accordance with the international standard ISO 27001 (information security management), and the same applies to suppliers of platforms and games. Credit card payments are carried out in accordance with PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards).
Please bear in mind that your use of electronic devices (such as telephones, tablets and PCs) in connection with the use StarVegas.ch involves the risk of data loss or improper use by third parties; we accept no liability for such risks.

Who can access your personal information?

Officially verified processes and quality management systems ensure that only individuals authorised to do so (employees of StarVegas.ch, employees of suppliers, such as platform providers and credit card companies, authorities) can access your information, and this is always restricted to their respective areas if responsibility.

Is personal information passed on to third parties?

We only pass on your personal information to third parties to the extent this is legally permissible and necessary for the operation of StarVegas.ch. Third parties entitled to receive such information can be authorities, as part of their statutory duties, and partner companies that are contractually involved in the provision of the offers on StarVegas.ch. However, your information is not sold to third parties.

Please remember that information you share with certain major foreign processing companies (such as Google, Meta/Facebook, X/Twitter, Apple, Microsoft) are subject to specific regulations and risks.

Casino Interlaken AG mainly uses data centres in Switzerland, Austria and the EU to process personal information. If it is necessary to transfer personal data outside of Switzerland or the EU or the EEA, for example for transfer to a data processor that either itself or through one of its subcontractors stores data in a country outside of Switzerland or the EU or the EEA or has branches there the organiser will take all necessary legal, technical and organisational measures to ensure that the level of data protection corresponds to that of Switzerland. When personal information is transferred to a country outside Switzerland, the level of data protection is ensured by the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner's country list which includes countries with appropriate data protection legislation.

What rights do you have with regard to your personal data?

You have the following options at all times, as far as legally permissible:
  • To receive confirmation of existing personal information. This information is primarily listed within your account;
  • To request the correction of relevant information. This is achieved via customer services or via your player account;
  • To revoke your consent to data processing or to request the deletion of information. This does not affect the legality of data processing that has been implemented based on previously granted consent. This option is requested with the help of special tools, such as deregistrations and cancellations. Revoking your consent in this way can result in the termination of the services provided to you by StarVegas.ch;
  • To submit a complaint to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (www.edoeb.admin.ch).

Unless otherwise indicated, these services will be implemented after you send your written request (email) to customer services. We endeavour to reply with the requests promptly, with the duration of the process depending on the nature of the information in question, our statutory obligations and the rights of third parties. Our non-binding aim is to process requests within one month.

Changes to the Notice

StarVegas.ch may make changes to this Notice at any time, which is why we request that you review this Notice on a regular basis. The version published on our website is the valid version. You will be notified in advance in the event of extensive changes.
